Cedar Data Depot is a self-service app at ddepot.cedarai.com where carrier admins and data teams connect Cedar data to their own systems. You sign in with your Cedar login, pick a carrier, and choose how you want the data: query it with SQL, call Cedar’s APIs, ask an AI assistant about it, or have Cedar push it to your cloud storage. You don’t need to file a request with Cedar for any of these.

Ways to get your data

Snowflake appears in the navigation as Soon.‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ Snowflake data sharing is still configured in ARMS Settings.

Which option should I use?

The options overlap in the data they reach, so the choice comes down to who is using the data, whether you need to change anything in Cedar, and whether you want to read Cedar live or own a copy. Start with the cards below, and see Choosing the right option for the full comparison and rules of thumb.

I want to query tables with SQL

Provision a Postgres view and connect your BI tool or SQL client to it.

My system needs to call Cedar

Create an API client limited to the endpoints the integration needs.

I want to ask an AI assistant

Connect ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or Copilot to Cedar with your own login.

I want my own copy, on my own SLA

Subscribe to CDC delivery. Cedar pushes Parquet batches to your Azure or S3 storage, so your reports don’t depend on Cedar’s database.

Getting around the app

  • Carrier. The carrier selector at the top of the sidebar decides which carrier’s data every page uses. Carriers are grouped by organization, and the selected carrier is kept in the page URL, so a copied link opens the same carrier.
  • Navigation. The sidebar lists API, MCP, Postgres, Delivery, Databricks, and Snowflake. A Live badge means the option is available; Soon means it is not available yet.‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ Options you don’t have access to for the selected carrier are hidden or explain what is missing.
  • Theme. The button next to your name switches between the Cedar and Terminal themes. Data Depot remembers your choice on that browser.
  • View as user group. Admins can preview Data Depot with the permissions of one of the carrier’s user groups. See View as a user group.
What you see depends on the selected carrier, your permissions, and the region the carrier runs in. Each page shows only the options currently available to you. For example, some Postgres sources are listed only for North American carriers. CDC delivery is currently limited to carriers on Cedar’s EU production environment; if you’d like it in the US, contact Cedar sales and we’ll be happy to discuss it.

How Data Depot keeps your data safe

  • Scoped to a carrier. Every request is checked against your Cedar permissions for the selected carrier. Data Depot never relies on what the browser says about your access.
  • Read-only data access. Postgres views and the MCP connection only read data. API clients can call only the endpoints you select.
  • Secrets are shown once. Database passwords and API keys are displayed a single time, when they are created. Destination credentials you enter for CDC delivery are stored securely by Cedar and never shown again.
  • Everything expires or can be revoked. API keys always have an expiry date. Postgres access can expire automatically and can be revoked at any time.
